The Kent Fossil Database

Welcome

The Kent Fossil Database was originated through Kent RIGS and Thanet Council in order to collect data about fossils found within their area. Futher work by Tony Mitchell has extended it to include all the Kent fossils and, while he was at it, pleistocene mammals in the south east. This was connected with his need to do something with his time now that 'London Clay Fossils of Kent and Essex' has been completed (Published on the 15th May 2009). Tony is now considering a book illustrating Pleistocene manmmals.

RIGS have provided the funding for the conversion of the database into a web based portal and are helping with data gathering , as are several other groups KGG, Medway Fossil and Mineral Society, The Sheppey Research Group etc... The hosting for the site and database is being provided by the Palaeontological Assocaition (www.palass.org). With website coding and database conversion/management by Dr. Alan R.T. Spencer.
